Xavier Scruggs, The Traitors: New Blood player

MLB Analyst

WHERE THEY STANDEP 3

Battled Katie for the last Traitor seat, lost, and was murdered for the trouble. His own name-floating handed the turret their reason to pass on him.

DRAFT PROFILE

TIER C

Number 22 of 22 on our preseason board, in tier C alongside 9 other players.

That is a bet on how many points Xavier is worth to a fantasy roster, which is not the same bet as who wins. Points come from missions, shields, surviving the Round Table and calling a Traitor correctly, so a loud player who gets banished in episode six can outscore a quiet one who reaches the end.

Ranked before the premiere, from the cast announcement and nothing else. Nobody involved has seen a frame of the season.

BEFORE THEY PLAYED
Wanted the cloak

Xavier asked for the cloak before filming. That is appetite, not an assignment: casting decides, and plenty who campaign for it spend the season Faithful. What it does tell you is that Xavier arrived willing to lie, which is the harder half to fake, and that a Faithful Xavier is a player whose instincts point the wrong way at every Round Table.

What they told the cameras before filming, not a spoiler and not a prediction. Casting decides who wears the cloak.

IN THE CASTLE

A shared age, home state or trade is the first shortcut a Round Table reaches for.

Counted from the twenty-two announced players, not from anything that has happened. The season has not started.

FUN FACTS

  • Talked himself out of a Traitor cloak: the MLB analyst had already floated Katie's name to the Faithful, so the turret read him as a future backstabber and murdered him instead of recruiting him.

    EP 3
  • A former MLB player turned analyst, Xavier was pulled aside on night one to compete as a Traitors' accomplice.

BIO

The one player here with a public record before the castle. Drafted by the St. Louis Cardinals in 2008, he reached the majors with them in 2014, played through 2015 in St. Louis and 2016 with the Miami Marlins, then spent two seasons with the NC Dinos in the Korean Baseball Organization, where he hit 61 home runs. He returned to the Cardinals organisation as a diversity, equity and inclusion consultant in 2021 and now works as a broadcast baseball analyst. "My secret weapon is a photographic memory of body language and movements," he says, which is a scout's skill pointed at a dinner table.

🎯 FANTASY TAKE

A former MLB first baseman, now an analyst, and the one player here with an existing public profile on a season sold as all-civilian. Physically the safest missions bet in the cast, and analysis is the actual day job. The draft rank is deliberately low against that: being the only recognisable person in the castle is a structural disadvantage no skill offsets, because the Traitors have a free, unarguable reason to pick them and the Faithful have a free reason to resent them.

STRATEGY

Expect them to be excellent on missions and treated as an outsider anyway.
